Ancestry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team. Reporting to our Software Development Manager, you will join an impressive team of developers and product managers who have built some of the world's most compelling products, producing the world leader in two categories, family history and consumer genetic testing.
You will be focused on development of our data matching system. You will be provided many opportunities for professional growth and include experience writing data analysis and comparison functionality using Java, and managing scalable resources using AWS.
What you will do...
Analyze genealogical records and data
Write and refine record matching algorithms and systems using Java and Machine Learning
Manage resources using Amazon Web Services
Collaborate with Product Management, Data Analytics, Data Science and Cloud Services
Write useful tests for all code developed
Work in a collaborative Agile environment (SCRUM) and lead scrum ceremonies such as grooming, planning, daily stand up meetings
Who you are...
8+ years related experience
Java and OOP skills
Development experience with Big Data, Machine Learning and Data Analytics
Solid knowledge of relational databases and performance tuning
Developed applications in public cloud preferably in AWS
Understanding of software development processes, including SOLID principles, Agile methodologies and CI/CD
Solid experience in genealogy and family history research
