You will help answer the business question 'How is the business performing?' A strategic role supporting the Family History Verticals team at Ancestry. If you love diving into massive datasets, finding the insights hidden within the data, & explaining the insights to non-technical business partners in a way that is applicable, this role may be the one for you. In addition to performing ad hoc analysis for the most pressing business questions, you will also involve building data sets, piping data in and out of our tools, and visualizing the data.


Kindly note this is not a data science related role; preference is given to business analysts who prefer the end-to-end process of analytics – gathering the data, building the data sets, analyzing, and communicating the results.


What you'll do...

  • Gather data requirements and define data needs
  • Develop the data architecture; extract and load data pipelines
  • Run exploratory analyses, uncover new areas of opportunity, create hypotheses, and quickly assess the potential upside of a given opportunity
  • Present insights by creating dashboards, reports and analysis that explain what happened and why
  • Look the next new opportunity
  • Collaborate with colleagues and peers to guide business solutions and identify opportunities for innovation

Who you are...

  • 3 years experience with visualization software (e.g., Tableau)
  • 3 years experience using SQL and knowledgeable about databases
  • 3+ years of demonstrated data analysis experience, with preference given for online consumer software product experience
  • Degree in Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a similar discipline
