We’re looking for a senior engineer to work with a team of full-time and contract staff in leading the evaluation, selection, adoption, governance and ongoing improvements for our monitoring and observability solutions.  They will also lead in the creation and maintenance of full-stack internal solutions used by the organization for load testing, tracking and evaluating web page performance.   Need strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to decompose complex problems, working with teams across the organization.

What you will do...

  • Lead team in evaluation, adoption and governance of a unified monitoring solution that takes us to the next level of reliability and availability.  
  • Develop solutions integrations with a team of engineers that have skills in React, Nodejs, Java (Spring Boot), Python, Go and db technologies in AWS container environments.  You don’t have to know them all; but you should be able to provide the designs and contribute to key components; with the desire to develop full stack skill sets.
  • Become a domain expert and be a go to person for all aspects of monitoring the user experience, internet, micro services, AWS infrastructure; all things the compose of the Ancestry solution.
  • Codify observability, removing the complexities of managing the observability of 400+ services that directly support our customers and 1000+ that provide back office and science support.
  • Reporting to Director of Application Performance

Who you are...

  • 5+ years experience in designing and implementing microservices via technologies such as  Java Spring Boot, Python, Golang, NodeJS, React, and Shell scripts.
  • 3+ years experience in AWS Technologies, AWS observability tools like CloudWatch,  Infrastructure-As-Code tools like Terraform/Cloudformation/CDK, Docker, Kubernetes, and other AWS services such as S3, Lambda, EC2, ECS, AWS SDKs
  • 2+ years relational database (MySQL) experience.
  • Strong AWS experience (CloudFormation,)
  • 2+ years of experience in using and/or implementing observability tools such as NewRelic / datadog / app dynamics and infrastructure observability tools like Zabbix / Nagios / SiteScope.  Know the concepts and needed capabilities.
