Ancestry has a great opportunity for a General Ledger Accountant. This position will report to an accounting manager and will be primarily responsible for assisting in the accounting for Ancestry’s emerging businesses, including Ancestry’s professional genealogists, and newspaper and military offerings.

What you will do...

  • Maintain accurate records for all assigned areas, including recording journal entries for key processes

  • Perform monthly accounting close procedures

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Analyze month-over-month fluctuations and forecast-to-actual variances for assigned accounts

  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of existing processes and controls

  • Perform various controls over financial reporting

  • Perform in-depth calculations and analyses related to numerous third-party royalty agreements

  • Coordinate with business partners and Financial, Planning, & Analysis teams to ensure strong communication & integration among groups

  • Work with third-party vendors to reconcile and validated royalty calculations

  • Perform clerical duties related to customer accounts, sales & refunds, requesting new vendors, invoice processing for contractors, check payments, and other expense approvals

  • Provide and communicate accurate and timely information for decision making to management

  • Work with both external and internal auditors

  • Assist with other projects as deemed necessary

Who you are...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

  • CPA-eligible or working towards CPA is desirable

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience required

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required

  • Experience with Oracle, TM1, and Tableau is desirable

  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and detail oriented

  • Must have great verbal and written communication skills

As a signatory of the ParityPledge in Support of Women and the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, Ancestry values pay transparency and pay equity.  We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position: $63,000 - $72,000 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision.
