Ancestry.com Operations Inc. seeks Software Engineer – Java in Draper, UT (Previous location Lehi, UT)
Job Duties: Develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and data analysis for monitoring the health and availability of software applications. Apply knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design. Design and implement microservices and serverless applications via technologies such as Java, SQL, and Python to build both customer-facing and internal tools as per requirements. Leverage knowledge of AWS technologies such as Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation/Terraform/CDK, AuroraDB, DynamoDB to build and contribute to the evaluation, and continuous improvement of existing internal tools. Use and enhance Cloud APM and logging tools, such as AWS CloudWatch / NewRelic. Analyze production performance using the tools to solve existing software problems and performance issues. Train and support internal teams in the usage of internal tools, processes, and solutions. Telecommuting permitted.
Minimum Requirements: Masters’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related discipline, or foreign equivalent, plus one year of experience in job offered or in a closely related position.
Special Skill Requirements: Experience must include one year of experience with each of the following: 1) Java; 2) AWS Cloud such as Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, AuroraDB, and DynamoDB; 3) Monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch; 4) Infrastructure -As-Code tools such as AWS CDK, AWS CloudFormation. Also requires any amount of education or experience with: Python.
